Yoga and infertility

- Yoga is an ancient Asian philosophy and way of life the aim of which is to achieve a state of inner calm and peace through the harmonious union of body and mind.
- Yoga can help with infertility as a way to manage, control and eliminate stress, which is often the cause of unexplained infertility or an aggravating factor in infertility where there is a known medical cause.
- Infertility creates a lot of stress in the body, the mind and sometimes in the relationship between partners. The more time passes, the louder the biological clock ticks, the higher the level of stress because the long-awaited pregnancy still hasn't happened. The desire to have a child becomes a real obsession. When stressed, the body secretes a hormone called cortisol, which can interfere with the reproductive hormones. The body therefore perceives stress as a sign that it's not the right time to get pregnant, leading to unexplained infertility.
- Stress promotes blockages, including in relation to fertility. Stress can lead to ovulation problems, in particular.
- For men, stress has an impact on fertility too, especially on the quantity and quality of sperm, but also on desire and libido. It can also lead to erectile or ejaculation problems.
- Yoga takes the form of a series of postures that require concentration and balance, and breathing exercises.
- Yoga postures also stretch and tone all the muscles of the body.
- There is a yoga practice for fertility with a number of postures that improve fertility by stimulating the ovaries and pelvic area. This helps to eliminate toxins, but also to improve sexuality, which is often damaged by stress and the battle against infertility. Why not try yoga with your partner? Not only will it relax you both, but it will also be a good opportunity to touch each other and rediscover your sensuality.
- Yoga stimulates the reproductive system and balances the hormones.
- Yoga develops gratitude and helps us to be mindful of what is going well in the present (over 80% of our lives in fact), rather than focusing on what is going badly, which is a source of stress.
- The benefits of yoga are physical, mental and spiritual.
- Yoga offers deep relaxation. It is therefore an excellent complement to IVF treatment.
