Why create a non-profit organisation to help with infertility?

ART procedures often lack humanity, empathy and, above all, information. Doctors, gynaecologists and assisted reproduction centres lack the time to inform and explain the many causes of infertility and its consequences, as well as the range of solutions available to combat this growing problem, which has become a public health issue. Some solutions, such as egg donation, are highly effective, yet little-known.

Infertility doesn't always have to be fate: there are ways of becoming a parent even when the odds are against you, the only thing you need is the right information. However, information on the various treatments available and the facilities which provide them in France and abroad, can be difficult to find as infertility is still considered a taboo subject.

Faced with infertility, for years we took the same steps as most couples in France: multiple tests to determine the reasons for infertility with different doctors, referral to an ART centre, which is generally overwhelmed, because there are so few of these centres in France, meaning individual attention is limited, and waiting lists are very long for the various ART attempts: insemination, IVF (in vitro fertilisation), etc.

Time passes very quickly, failures pile up, and then comes disappointment…

Disappointment because you are told that you have used up your ‘quota’ of attempts, that with time you have reached the age limit for treatment, that only egg donation is possible but that this is highly unlikely because there are too many requests, it is very complicated and, in any case, it is too late...

Despite this disappointment, we didn’t give up, we looked for solutions on our own. Thanks to hours spent on the Internet consulting websites specialising in ART, infertility and gamete donation in France and abroad, and communicating with fertility organisations and clinics, sometimes at the other end of the world...

Our persistence paid off: a baby girl was born following egg donation in the Czech Republic!

Aware of the happiness this could bring, we decided to create this non-profit organisation (with a small group of like-minded individuals) in order to help those who, like us, may at some point face the tragedy of infertility. The aim of the organisation is to provide access to information, to find solutions especially via the existing avenues of egg donation (including abroad), and embryo donation, to share experiences, hopes, successes and failures, in short to create a community around infertility and ART.

We are fervent supporters of egg donation, an effective ART technique that is not sufficiently well known.

Since 2011, when the organisation was founded, it has grown significantly, with the number of members doubling every year, demonstrating the level of interest and helpfulness of our approach.

The organisation is open to anyone affected by infertility and ART, members and non-members alike. We started in France, however following a few requests for information from infertile couples from different countries, we decided to create this international branch. Please bear with us, while we develop the information for other countries. In the meantime, please sign up to our forum, where you will find frequently asked questions (and answers). Please note that our organisation does not receive any funding, it is financed solely by membership fees, therefore your membership is most welcome.

Join the organisation.
