Sanus clinic in Czech Republic

Twelve questions to Anna Puhlovská, International Coordinator, of Sanus clinic.
1. Where is the clinic located, and is it easy to access from the airport?
Sanus Clinic is located in Hradec Králové, a beautiful city in the Czech Republic. It is about 120 km from Prague, and getting here is easy. Patients can take a direct train or bus from Prague or use a private transfer for a comfortable journey.
By Car: drive via the D11 motorway (approx. 1.5 hours). A toll vignette is required and can be purchased online.
By Train: take a direct express train from Prague. Some routes may require a transfer in Pardubice. Check schedules at Czech Railways.
By Bus: buses depart from:
- Černý Most Terminal (end of Metro Line B)
- Florenc Terminal (city centre, near Metro Lines B and C) Schedules are available at IDOS.
By Private Chauffeur: For a seamless journey, we offer a private transport service between Prague Airport and Hradec Králové, included in many of our treatment packages.
2. Can you tell me about the patient’s journey?
From the first contact, our team provides personalized care.
The process begins with your first contact and the creation of a medical file where patients fill in a detailed medical questionnaire and provide any necessary documents.
The first contact is followed up by an online consultation, where we review the patient's medical history and discuss treatment options. Once our specialists approve the case, we create a personalized treatment plan and schedule the necessary appointments.
For egg donation, for example, the process usually takes about 2 to 2.5 months, including the synchronization and preparation of the donor. The patient’s cycle is coordinated with the donor’s cycle using hormone treatments. When the treatment plan is finalized, the patient visits the clinic for key procedures, which may include ultrasound monitoring, egg retrieval (for IVF), sperm collection, and embryo transfer.
A stay for egg donation treatment follows this schedule (from Wednesday to Wednesday):
Day 1 (Wednesday): Arrival in the Czech Republic. Private transfer from the airport is available.
Day 2 (Thursday): Initial consultation with the doctor, including an ultrasound. Egg retrieval from the donor, sperm collection from the partner (if applicable).
Day 3 (Friday): Fertilization results.
Days 3-6 (Friday to Monday): Free time for the patient to relax.
Day 7 (Tuesday): Embryo transfer and final payment.
Day 8 (Wednesday): Departure home.
Throughout the process, our team of coordinators is available to answer questions and provide support, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience.
3. What fertility treatments do you offer?

4. How do you assess fertility issues, and what tests will the patient need?
We kindly ask all patients to fill out a special medical form that we send after the first contact. This form contains important medical information about patient and partner.
For treatments using the patient’s own eggs, it is important to provide a recent hormone profile, a recent gynaecological report (including an ultrasound of the uterus) and partner´s recent semen analysis.
For other treatments including egg donor, embryo donation etc., it is important to provide a recent gynaecological report (including an ultrasound of the uterus), partner´s recent semen analysis, photos of the patient and their partner to assist in donor selection and desired donor characteristics.

6. What is your policy on egg/sperm donation, and how do you ensure donor anonymity and quality?
We follow strict regulations to ensure high-quality egg and sperm donations. Donors undergo thorough medical and genetic screening; they are under 32 years old and must have at least one healthy child. Their anonymity is fully protected according to Czech law.
In the terms of egg/sperm donation policy, we do not share eggs which means all eggs collected are for one recipient couple. Our database has more than 500 donors.
7. What support services do you provide during the treatment process?
Our team of coordinators offers continuous support, including counselling, coordination of treatment steps, and emotional guidance. We ensure that every patient feels informed and comfortable throughout their journey.
Once the patient arrives at the clinic, they will also receive an emergency number on which their coordinator is available 24/7 in the event of an emergency situation.
8. How do you monitor progress during the treatment cycle, and how often will a patient need to visit the clinic?
Our doctors are open to cooperating with patients' gynaecologists. For treatment using the patient’s own eggs, it is necessary for the patient to undergo initial monitoring at home before coming to our clinic for the next phase of stimulation. Once at our clinic, our doctors will continue to monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed and prepare the patient for the intervention.
For treatments using donor eggs or donated embryos, patient preparation is carried out remotely under the guidance of our doctors. In these cases, the patient typically only needs to visit the clinic for one week, or in case of embryo donation, just for the embryo transfer itself.
9. What is your policy on embryo storage and freezing, and how long can embryos be stored?
Embryos can be frozen and stored for up to 10 years. Patients can decide to use them for future treatments or extend storage by paying an annual fee, if needed.
For treatments with donor eggs, packages starting from €5,590 include cryopreservation of surplus embryos and one year of storage at no extra cost. Similarly, for treatments using the patient's own eggs, cryopreservation and one year of storage are also included in the package price.
10. What are your clinic’s policies regarding patient privacy and confidentiality?
